The Joy of Becoming

The Joy of Becoming is a striking mixed media painting that fuses abstract realism with heartfelt emotion. It depicts a lioness smiling warmly, even laughing at her playful cub, capturing a moment charged with joy, love, and spirited connection. You can feel the bond between them. The daring composition and dynamic textures draw you into their intimate world, celebrating the vibrant energy of life’s unfolding bond.

As I was painting this I connected to both the cub as I was finding my joy through my use of color, and exploring what gave me joy, at the time I felt stagnant. I purposely learned to play again, to do things that I found joy in doing, whether in my art, my clothing style, trying new foods and more. I connected to the lioness as I thought about raising my own children and the joy it brought me as I watched them as they learned and explored through play.
